The home has been extended and renovated since it was built about 50 years ago on the 366 sq m block. It last traded for $565,000 in 2007. Result: sold for $605,000.In Banksia a two-bedroom Federation house at 34 Railway Street was auctioned with hopes of $450,000 through Peter Kassis of PRDnationwide Bexley North. The unrenovated house, on 260 sq m, last sold for $145,100 in 1991.Result: sold for $510,000.INNER WESTArt on the outsideAN UNUSUAL Victorian terrace in St Peters stood out among a record total of 672 homes auctioned yesterday across Sydney.The renovated, three-storey terrace at 4 Goodsell Street, which forms part of the outdoor space for the May Lane Art Project, was auctioned with hopes of about $720,000 through Glenn Regan from Agency by Glenn Regan. It last sold for $590,000 in 2002. The home, with three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms and a car space, was built circa 1890 on 120 sq m.Result: passed in at $731,000.In Marrickville a two-bedroom semi at 20 Charles Street was auctioned through James Burke of Callagher Estate Agents with a price guide of $550,000-plus. About 100 years old, the unrenovated home, on 209 sq m, has been in the one family for 30 years.Result: sold for $623,000.NORTHLaid-back style starts at the topA THREE-BEDROOM townhouse with rooftop terrace at 5/21 Palmer Street, Cammeray, was auctioned yesterday through Forsyth Cammeray's Dennis Pallos with hopes of about $900,000. It last sold for $710,000 in 2003 and has three bedrooms and a double garage. The two-level home was built in 1982 on 125 sq m and has been fully renovated in the past two years. The strata rate is $623 a quarter.Result: passed in at $890,000.In Pennant Hills a three-bedroom Californian bungalow at 6 Warne Street was auctioned through Emily Khoudair of Laing + Simmons Pennant Hills with a price guide of $800,000-plus.It last traded for $230,000 in 2001. It is on a 556 sq m block.Result: sold for $840,000.EASTPark views in VaucluseA TWO-BEDROOM apartment with views of Christison Park at 16/2 Clarke Street, Vaucluse, was auctioned yesterday through Susan Wyatt of Susan Wyatt Real Estate with hopes of $560,000-plus. It last sold for $350,000 in 2002. The internal space is 81.9 sq m and the strata levy is $624 a quarter. Result: sold for $608,000.In Surry Hills a 14th-floor apartment at 45/251-253 Goulburn Street was auctioned through Oxford Real Estate's Dominic D'Ettorre with a price guide of $600,000. The two-bedroom apartment last sold for $320,000 in 2000. It has 97 sq m of space and a strata levy of $1343.64 a quarter. Result: passed in at $590,000.Canny neighbour starts the big dayTHE Super Saturday auction bonanza started early yesterday with the sale of an art deco apartment in Rushcutters Bay.Despite a slow auction pace, the two-bedroom, top-floor apartment at 10/44A Bayswater Road sold for $731,000 €“ $6000 over reserve.The sale was a good start to the day for selling agency Bresic Whitney, which had 15 of the record 672 properties that went to auction yesterday.Agency director Shannan Whitney said the property was a package that ticked a lot of boxes for different classes of buyers.Six contracts were handed out on the Bayswater Road property before the auction.Three bidders €“ eastern suburbs residents who were drawn to the unit because of its high ceilings, leadlight windows and arched corridors €“ registered on the day.A price guide was set between $700,000 and $725,000.Australian Property Monitors said the property last sold in 2003 for $475,000. Rental returns are estimated at $600-plus a week and strata levies for the 13 apartments in the block are $1259 a quarter. No parking is included in the title.The auction started slowly, forcing Christopher Mourd, of Cooley Auctions, to make a vendor bid at $670,000. From there two active bidders increased the sale price by $5000 to $10,000 increments until the gavel dropped.Vendors Joshua and Alexa Consandine said they were hoping to find a bigger home to accommodate their growing family."It's just become too hard trying to get up those three flights of stairs," Mrs Consandine said. "Plus the parking is a nightmare."The couple continued their auction experience yesterday, bidding on a semi-detached house in Forest Lodge, which they bought for $750,000.The buyer of the Rushcutters Bay unit, Robert Johnston, lives in the building and hopes to rent out the apartment."I know the building, the location and have seen how the area has changed, so I know that this place has great rental potential," he said.
